Pedigree
FB’s lines include true foundation stock. He has these direct greats right on his papers: Maples Squirrel, Yankee, DOCK, Kilburn’s Chocolate Sundown who truly started this wonderful breed. Fry is related to famous and revered rocky stock as well. Some Famous brothers and sisters include:
MX Wrangler- now a popular stud in GERMANY, Maple's Shadow- a prolific stud in CANADA, Ebony Sundown - son of the great Maples Fancy.
These horses known to be the ultimate “all around horse”. This breed is coveted for their rarity, gentleness, smooth easy gaits and beauty. Owning FB would ensure a place for this wonderful breed in the future. They are truly versatile, as we say: ONE HORSE FOR ALL OCCASIONS. This horse has greatness in his eyes!
Conformation
FB is the kind of horse that is physically built for work. He does not have a fault conformationally that we can see. For a Rocky, he is extremely balanced head to toe. He is built and capable of being a hardy and handy ranch horse or just one to haul you up many, many mountains! He can do the work of a quarter horse without the trot! He is very stocky with thick, sound, durable legs/hooves and a perfect height! He is downright cute with a pleasant expression.
Temperament
This guy is sweet and totally interactive with his human. He loves to be enriched with a job. When its time to be groomed or just hang out he is a true companion!
Riding
FB rides best with an average active advanced beginner rider… he will goat up the steepest slopes, across water and bridges, over downed trees, and through the roughest terrain- ridden in different terrain all throughout several different states. Traffic sane and safe. NO vices, ties, clips, and bathes, goes through all obstacles like a champ. He is solid as a rock & an easy keeper. Laid back, super friendly, with a very easygoing personality. Great with all types of horses turned out in the pasture.
FB is a DUAL PURPOSE type horse not everyone can find… when asked he can cover some ground if you like to ride with gaited horses OR walk as SLOW as you wish with AQHAs. Typically, he is most comfortable at a medium/slow gait, low-headed and not too fast. Ride bareback, english, western, trail obstacle, jumps, drives, ride double, the foundation to sort cows, heel or head and drag all the calves you need, side pass to gates, he will work so many jobs for you! When out on trails, he’s happy to be in the front, middle, or back. When he meets an object she is unsure of- he mostly stops and looks- possibly just a little jump but thats it- NO bolting, running away or other shenanigans. He calms down with any excitement with a just a few aids from her rider- just a little circle, lower the head, bend or disengage etc and he is right back to work- does not maintain excited behavior.
Skills
For the rider looking to “level up” and ride with all your aids or to start to show in upper level events, FB has all the training "buttons" to allow the advanced rider the potential to do ANYTHING in your performance horse dreams! Soft willing stop, back, sidepass, turn on the fore, turn on the hind, leg yield, shoulder in, slower walk, gait and canter that does not rush! etc. he has a nice soft mouth that is suggested for those who can adapt to soft hands. He gives very nicely to the snaffle bridle, rides nice in halter/bosal, even bridle less (a neck reining horse!). He will lower his head for the bridle when bitting, ties easily and respects your space. 100% kid acclimated, used to guns, bull whips, etc
He is desensitized to most things, rides over many different types of obstacles/tarps, He would excel in Obstacle challenges, gymkhana, gaited dressage
FB trailers beautifully (walking in the trailer and backing out), stands to mount quietly, side passes to the mounting block, and is perfect for the farrier, clipping, bathing, saddling, and bridling. This horse is as close to bomb-proof as they get – perfect for the entire family to enjoy. Not spooky – exposed to multi-use trail systems, wildlife, bicycles, joggers, cows, goats, dogs logs, bridges, deep water crossings etc. He ties and pickets during camping and is a dream to take along. He has a great personality and a great attitude about whatever he is asked to do. He also willingly hobbles or packs!
He’s ready to make your dream a reality!
Gaits
This is the horse that everyone is searching for. FB first and foremost is a safe trail horse extraordinaire with an added ultra-smooth gait. He is a natural at his god given gaits! Folks may say “naturally gaited” about their horses and they really are not.
FB will perform a medium/slow saddle rack that has equally timed 4 beats with very little swing/movement for those with lower back pain when riding.
Management
FB is the type of horse you can put away for months and return to as the same horse you left! A comfortable horse in all environments (with mares or geldings)- because he is an extremely easy keeper he is managed in a dry lot with AM/PM feedings of first crop timothy/orchardgrass hay. After about mid July, and if weight is well maintained he is allowed to graze paddocks during the day with supplemental dry lot hay overnight. He also is fine stabled alone or in a stall.
He fits in at the bottom to middle of the herd and gets along well with others! He has a puppy-dog personality and is easy to catch.
